Robert Courts MP recently joined the construction team at David Wilson Homes’ Kingfisher Meadows development to celebrate the end of an era in Witney with a ‘topping out’ ceremony for the final home.

The Member of Parliament for Witney got stuck into the work on the final property under construction, with the help of the team which has turned Kingfisher Meadows into an established community.

As the final touches are being added to the final home at the Burford Road community, the ceremony marks the final milestone as the construction edges closer to completion.

Robert Courts MP said: “I was pleased to recently attend the ‘topping out’ ceremony of the Kingfisher Meadows development in Witney.

“Here in West Oxfordshire, there is a particular need for more affordable homes to rent and buy. I have argued for some time that new homes must be at the right price and in the right place. The use of timber frames and investment in skills is needed for our future and are both examples of the things that will make new homes work for our area. Kingfisher Meadows is a good example of this.

“I was pleased to visit the site and catch up with the team.”

Kingfisher Meadows has proven extremely popular with Oxfordshire homebuyers since it opened in November 2018.

The 260-home development has delivered a variety of three and four bedroom properties for buyers in Witney, with 40% of these allocated as affordable homes.

As part of the planning agreement, David Wilson Homes has contributed £4.3m to the local area for improvements in education, transport, and recreational facilities.

Dominic Harman, Managing Director at David Wilson Homes Mercia, said: “The topping out ceremony at Kingfisher Meadows was a fantastic way to celebrate our time at the development and the hard work of everyone who has helped to make this community what it is today.

“We were delighted to be joined by Robert Courts MP as we complete the works on the final homes remaining, and we’re sure the community will continue to flourish long after completion.”
