The six summer diy jobs that can boost the value of your home by thousands

A property expert has revealed the six Summer DIY jobs that could help boost a home’s value by thousands of pounds. Housing prices in many areas are rising – and many will be tempted to put their property on the market over the Summer.
The latest data from the ONS indicates a 1.8% increase in average house prices across the UK for the year ending in March, with the average price now standing at £283,000. Notably, new-build homes have seen a significant price surge, with a 17% increase over the past year.
These figures are likely to drive interest in the property market over coming weeks. Before moving house, many homeowners will be giving their homes a spring clean and finishing off some last-minute DIY jobs.
With this in mind, property expert and founder of House Buy Fast Jonathan Rolande said there are a number of things people looking to sell their homes can do to improve their property’s value.
He says:
  • Tidy the garden, remove any dead plants and shrubs and replace them with new, healthy varieties. Keep lawns mowed and bushes under control.
  • Paint doors, gates and window frames to give that all-important kerb appeal.
  • Wash windows inside and out to let that summer sun stream in
  • Get a professional to check your roof, gutter and chimneys. Summer downpours can be heavy and you’ll want everything in good shape.
  • Get rid of the unused, rusty trampoline or long-forgotten barbeque, make your garden look neat, tidy and clutter-free.
  • Jet washing – perhaps the most enjoyable of all. Give your patio, driveway, garden furniture and even walls a new lease of life – jet washing will make them look brand new again. Moss and mildew can make a home look tired and damp so removing it will give a fresh impression. Just be careful, you don’t want to remove all the pointing too – caution advised!
