New Community in Gloucestershire Shortlisted for National Award
A NEW neighbourhood taking shape in Lydney has been recognised in the Housebuilder Awards.
River View Garden Village is one of six projects shortlisted in the best community initiative category of the housing industry awards.
The flagship scheme from the Edenstone Group has blossomed into a vibrant new community where residents can embrace a more sustainable way of living.
Alongside homes from the Group’s two housing brands – Edenstone Homes and Bluebell Homes – River View features electric vehicle charging points, allotments, cycle hire facilities, play areas and exercise equipment, wetland with walking loop, plus CCTV to public areas.
Sales director Adele McCoy said: “River View Garden Village is the first of a new generation of housing with a sense of community. What sets this neighbourhood apart is its facilities. We were keen to ensure that residents could benefit from these amenities at the earliest opportunity and well over half of these are now in place.
“It’s rewarding to know that our vision for River View has been recognised by the judges of the Housebuilder Awards. What’s even more important to us is that residents love living here. Those who’ve taken on allotments have been sharing their produce with neighbours and out team; while the children who live here have been having fun in the play area. These outdoor spaces have become more important than ever before in recent months and have been much appreciated by residents.”
River View originally launched off plan before a four-bedroom Carcroft show home opened on the Bluebell phase in October 2018, showcasing the development’s range of family homes.
Bungalows have proved a real success at River View, with only a small number now remaining as part of the Edenstone phase.
The allotments were launched during National Allotment Week 2019 by the former landowners. Additional allotment plots have been created in response to demand, with residents from the surrounding area expressing interest.
River View will eventually feature 177 new homes across all phases, with a range of buying options available including shared ownership.
Alternatively, prospective purchasers can use the Government-backed Help to Buy equity loan scheme to make homeownership easier to afford.
The Edenstone Group is also thanking key workers for their hard work with a special 5% key worker discount, available on selected properties bought before December 31.
Between the two brands, there’s a good choice of properties available, with current prices from £249,995 for a three-bedroom Alveston on the Bluebell phase.
Winners of the Housebuilder Awards will be announced during a virtual ceremony on December 3.
The show home at River View Garden Village is open for viewing by appointment only, with social distancing measures in place.
