Prospect's new show home at The Ridings, Longridge, includes a tearoom themed child's bedroom

CREATIVITY is in full effect in the latest show homes at The Ridings in Longridge where buyers are taking interior inspiration from professional designers.

Prospect Homes enlisted Stanza Style to dress the new four-bedroom Bembridge and Cavendish show homes in the latest phase of the development on Whittingham Road, Longridge.

Showcasing the new and improved specification, while also offering buyers ideas of how to style their own homes, the properties are available to view by appointment only.

Alex Egan, from Stanza Style, said: “Both properties are a good size and we’ve thought about who might live in these homes and designed the show homes to create the illusion of real family homes. There’s a big trend for using everyday items more imaginatively as people try to be more sustainable, attempt their own crafty projects and create something different in their own homes and so we’ve worked this into the show homes.

“The Cavendish includes a fun children’s bedroom with a tearoom theme using an Ikea hack. We’ve taken a Kallax shelving unit, turned it on its side to create tea shop counter by adding a white frame and canopy. To complete the room we’ve included themed toys including espresso machine, till, food and table and chairs for serving teddy bear friends.”

With the help of a joiner, the design team have created a stylish yet practical feature in the hallway by fitting a row of pegs to provide somewhere to hang keys, coats, a handbag or pictures.

Bedroom three has been styled with a music loving university student in mind. Making the most of the space, a desk area has been built into the recess of the room.

“To reflect the change in how we use the space in our homes, we’ve added a desk for home working in what ordinarily would be the guest bedroom of the Bembridge,” Alex added.

“There’s also a teenager’s room with a dressing table where they could do their hair and makeup.”

Alex explained: “Miffy, from the children’s books, is very much on trend and is all over Instagram and so we’ve created a Miffy inspired bedroom complete with a mural of the character looking out of the windows.”

The Bembridge is styled with a young family in mind using a colour palette of spiced orange with a slight touch of dusty blue and some oak furniture.

In the lounge geometric line drawing style wallpaper creates interest. There’s a black and white Moorish style rug, a cool black and white floor lamp and a black spider style ceiling light.

In the open plan kitchen and dining room there are two feature walls – one above the worktops and one in the dining area. The concrete style dining table is paired with upholstered dining chairs

Keeping with the Moorish style, rattan places mats and bowls have been used to create wall art in the utility to coordinate with the laundry basket and hanging planters.

The main bedroom is a good size, with space for a king size bed, fitted wardrobes, dressing table and chair.

“Fabrics in this room are from a range called the London Underground with the headboard and cushion fabric once having featured on the underground,” Alex explained.

“We’ve paired these geometric fabrics with Caselio Moonlight Square wallpaper and added black and gold wooden bed sides, a funky black chandelier and abstract artwork.”

The Cavendish features the Dulux Colour of the Year, Tranquil Dawn, with rattan tones to create an on-trend look for a more mature family.

“In the lounge we created geometric panelling using wooden batons and painted them. We’ve used a corner chaise and added some solid oak pieces to show there’s space for a lot of furniture in this room,” Alex added.

A glass topped table helps bounce light around the kitchen and dining room, emphasising the spaciousness of this part of the home.  Feature wallpaper in the kitchen is Impasto Lines by Textura, which looks lovely against the oak and pampas grass tones. The adjoining utility has been styled with a keen gardener in mind.

The Ridings offers a choice of three and four-bedroom homes, priced from £207,995. Those who love the layout of the show homes and want to make a property in the same style, can purchase a Bembridge from £265,000 or a Cavendish from £290,000.
