RESIDENTS of Elford will benefit from community open space as a result of new homes being built in the Staffordshire village.

Already building homes across the county – with developments including The Hyde in Kinver, Brook Meadows in Loggerheads and Woottonbrook in Wombourne – Elan Homes has acquired a seven acre parcel of land in Elford.

Located off The Shrubbery, close to the River Tame, the site benefits from planning consent for 25 new homes.

Elan’s Regional Managing Director, David Summers said: “The housing and construction industries will have an important role to play in the country’s long-term economic recovery in the wake of the Coronavirus pandemic and at Elan we’re actively looking for new sites with development potential.

“Our latest acquisition in Elford is a prime example of how smaller communities can grow and accommodate their future housing needs on appropriate sites. It will help provide increased housing options for local people and support the rural economy through the construction of the new homes and the spending power of new residents.”

Known as Seven Acres, the development will offer a mix of two to five-bedroom homes.

The land was previously undeveloped, having traditionally been used in connection with Webbs Farm, with a long-established footpath across the site. Plans for a residential development on the site were originally submitted and withdrawn in 1985 by another developer.

The scheme being progressed by Elan was approved in April 2020 and the acquisition of the land was completed in November.

“During the planning process many existing Elford residents expressed a desire to downsize and our development will provide for this and families in need of extra space,” David added.

Central to the development will be public open space, including a balancing pond, which will provide species rich habitats for native wildlife.

“The challenges of 2020 have made people much more appreciative of open space and at Seven Acres we’ll be creating an open amenity area that the whole village will be able to enjoy,” David explained.

Construction of homes at Seven Acres is due to start in the latter stages of 2021, with the first properties expected to be released for sale in early 2022.
