REDUCED fuel bills and improved energy efficiency are helping buyers warm to the idea of moving to a brand new home in Staffordshire.

Based on energy Performance Certificate (EPC) data, those who switch from old to new could find that their energy bills are reduced by more than halved.

Elan Homes is building and selling new homes at The Hyde in Kinver that achieve EPC band B rating.

According to figures from the Office of National Statistics, the average new build achieves an EPC band B rating with a median score of 84. In comparison, existing homes across England achieved an average of a D rating and a median score of 64.

Many are concerned about both the financial cost and the environmental impact and want to make a long term change. “Based on Energy Performance Certificate data, the average cost for heating, light and hot water in a new build house in England is £399 a year compared to £885 for older homes. That’s a saving of almost 55%.”

Located on Hyde Lane, Kinver, The Hyde offers a choice of two, three and four-bedroom homes, with current prices from £280,000.

Among the available homes is the three-bedroom Whitley, priced from £335,000. It offers 949 sq ft of living space including, at ground level, an open plan kitchen and dining room with Juliet balcony, plus separate lounge with French doors leading to the rear garden and a cloakroom.  On the first floor are three bedrooms, one with en-suite, plus the family bathroom.

This home also features an integral garage, with a utility at lower ground level.
