Employees working for a leading housebuilder have put their best foot forward by completing a hike for two fantastic causes.

A team of colleagues from Norwich-based Barratt and David Wilson Homes Anglia joined forces with the homebuilder’s other regional teams across the country to take part in the annual Big Barratt Hike, put together by Barratt Developments PLC to raise money for The Outward Bound Trust and Whizz Kidz.

The Norfolk developer’s fundraising totalled £1,040, and the combined donation made by all of the Barratt and David Wilson Homes regional teams was more than £46,000. With funds matched by parent company, Barratt Developments, the total raised was £150,000.

Having started their trek at Ilam Hall in Derbyshire, participants carried out a 10-mile or 25-mile hike through the beautiful Peak District, before returning in stages for the merriment of the evening’s entertainment.

David Thomas, CEO at Barratt Developments, also took part in the hike for the two charities.

Simon Wood, Managing Director at Barratt and David Wilson Homes Anglia, said: “We are extremely proud of our colleagues that took part in this year’s Big Barratt Hike.

“Their dedication to taking on the challenge has resulted in an incredible amount of money being raised for each charity, and we know this donation will support two excellent causes in continuing their important work.”

The Outward Bound Trust takes its beneficiaries on wild adventures and inspires young people to believe they can achieve more than they ever thought was possible. The charity takes its beneficiaries on a journey of self-discovery among the UK’s mountains and landscapes.

Whizz Kidz is the UK’s leading charity supporting young wheelchair users up to 25-years-old, and provides them with the equipment and skills they need to live life as independently as possible.
